Step 2: Contact each participant personally to schedule the interview at a convenient time and in a quiet part of the work environment; if appropriate, provide preparatory materials; and confirm the interview.

You divide up the list of 42 teachers so that you are responsible for interviewing 12 and your two assistants are each responsible for 15. During the week of October 11, the three of you contact all the teachers by phone or e-mail to schedule the interviews. You plan the schedule so that there are no more than two interviews per interviewer on any one day. It becomes necessary to extend a few of the interviews into the third week of November. One day before each scheduled interview, you contact the teacher to remind him or her of the meeting. In four instances, it is necessary to reschedule the interviews.

Because the interview asks teachers essentially to "brainstorm" their reactions to a curriculum packet, you send them the draft packet appropriate for their grade level ahead of time.
