Teacher/Faculty Workshop Evaluations
Instrument 5: IAP-PA Economics Institute
Evaluation Form
Project: Advanced High School Economics Institute
University of Scranton
Funding Source: NSF: Teacher Enhancement (ESIE)
Purpose: To
determine the attitude of teacher
participants toward their experience during the first summer
of a 2-year summer institute in economics. Each participant's
satisfaction with the institute, content covered, materials,
instructors, and value for improving instruction is
assessed.
Administered To: The survey was completed
by 20 secondary teachers who were participants in an institute
designed to improve their economic understanding and skill
in teaching college-level principles of mathematics to high
school students. 16 of the teachers had completed both the
1995 and 1996 institute and 4 teachers had completed just
the 1996 institute.
Topics Covered:
- Workshop Evaluation: areas for program improvement,
assessment, content, effectiveness, endorsement, exemplary
areas, instructor, materials, methods,
organization
Format/Length: 49
questions total, 47 closed-
and 2 open-ended. The closed-ended items are 5-point Likert
scales that range from "strongly agree" to
"strongly disagree."
Some closed-ended items have room for comments. The open-ended
items ask participants to identify basic strengths and limitations
of the institute. Participants are asked to provide a brief
written response to the open-ended questions.
