Purpose: To assess the impact of the LACTE program

Administered To: Students participating in the LACTE program

Topics Covered:

  • length of involvement in project
  • impact of program on career choice
  • future plans
  • involvement with other LACTE students
  • relationship with LACTE faculty
  • perceptions of the effectiveness of the program
  • suggestions for improvement

Format/Length: 12 open-ended questions; interview or focus group


LACTE Student Interview/Focus Group Questions

  1. How long have you been involved in LACTE?

  2. Had you decided on a career in education before participating in LACTE or has LACTE helped you make that decision?

  3. What grade level are you interested in teaching? What subject?

  4. How have your academic and/or personal goals been affected by LACTE?

  5. Have you met other LACTE students from your two-year (or four-year) college? If so, in what capacity?

  6. How do you feel about the LACTE faculty?

  7. Do you feel you can approach a LACTE teacher as a mentor?

  8. What impression do you have of other students' feelings towards the LACTE program and faculty?

  9. Is LACTE a program you would recommend to another student?

  10. What do you feel are LACTE's weak and strong points?

  11. What changes would you make to improve and encourage student recruitment?

  12. How could LACTE better address your specific needs as you prepare for a career in teaching?
