LACTE Faculty Interview/Focus Group Questions

  1. Describe your involvement in LACTE.

  2. How did you hear about LACTE?

  3. How did you become involved in LACTE?

  4. How well publicized is LACTE on your campus?

  5. Are the goals/objectives of LACTE clear to you?

  6. Describe the faculty reception of LACTE on your campus.

  7. What type of faculty member is involved in LACTE? What type of faculty member will use cooperative learning?

  8. Is it difficult to recruit junior faculty who are concerned about tenure issues?

  9. How involved have faculty in the College of Education been in LACTE? What kinds of opportunities are there in LACTE for interaction among math and science faculty and College of Education faculty?

  10. How has the recruitment of minority math and science faculty proceeded?

  11. How effective has LACTE been in enlisting administrative support on your campus?

  12. Tell me about LACTE student recruitment and specifically minority student recruitment.

  13. Have students on your campus been involved in internships or other experiential activities?

  14. Have elementary and secondary teachers been brought into LACTE?

  15. What has taken place through LACTE in terms of the revision of courses? Have any of you had new courses approved or do you have courses in the process of approval? If so, how have they changed? Have any courses been piloted with LA Pass students?

  16. What kinds of interaction have taken place among faculty at your campus and the community college you have been paired with?

  17. How well informed are you with what is taking place at other LACTE campuses in terms of student recruitment, curriculum development, and dissemination efforts?
