1) Goals and Objectives of the Consortium

The goals and objectives proposed by the MTC are ambitious and far-reaching. Specifically, the Consortium proposed to achieve the following goals:

  • Professional development opportunities focused on building established technology competencies will be provided
  • Educators will engage in professional development opportunities appropriate for their career stage, technology integration proficiency level, and position
  • Organizational capacity in partner school districts will be increased through development of school- and district-based technology integration mentors and leaders
  • The capacity of principals and other leadership staff to support technology integration will be increased
  • Teachers and other target educators will improve their capacity to integrate technology into classroom instruction and will be better able to provide a wider variety of learning experiences to students
  • Organizational capacity in partner universities will be increased through development of state-of-the-art delivery methods for preservice and inservice graduate education
  • Pre-service teachers will have opportunities to acquire and practice skills related to technology integration
  • Students will benefit from the integration of technology into instruction by developing skills which improve their classroom performance, their performance on state assessment.
  • Academic achievement in core subjects, and 21st century workplace readiness skills
  • Communities of learners will be used as a regular method of professional development

A resource bank of interactive, video, and print training materials to support technology integration will be available to educators in MTC partner districts and throughout Maryland.
