An
undergraduate program has just begun a year-long curriculum that integrates
writing and science. The goals of the project are to increase interest
in the subject matter and increase student skills in writing about
problem-solving strategies that require the use of scientific
inquiry.
As the evaluator, one of your goals is to evaluate the curriculum's
impact on students who have a history of performing poorly in one
subject, but well in the other. To measure impact, you will administer
a pre-implementation questionnaire to the students. At the end of
the year, you will do a post-implementation questionnaire and compare
the two. You hope that the results of the pre-implementation questionnaire
will also provide formative data to help the instructors improve the
course.
