Instrument 5: Science and Math Course Comments

Purpose: To solicit student reactions to and opinions about 4 courses: physics, chemistry, math, science/math

Administered To: Students in science/math/technology courses

Topics Covered:

  • Course Evaluation: activities, areas for program improvement, assignments, effectiveness, exemplary areas, instructor, integration, materials, practical value, rigor, satisfaction
  • Impact on Outcomes: external factors that affect impact, knowledge, materials, quantitative evidence, student interest, student understanding, teacher attitudes
  • Self-Assessment (Student): academic habits, engagement, preparation
  • Background Characteristics & Activities (Student): academic interests

Format/Length: 51 questions total, 44 closed-ended Likert scale (15 physics, 15 chemistry, 14 math) and 6 open-ended questions (science/math)
