Instrument 4: Student Opinion Survey

Purpose: To solicit student reactions to and opinions about a course

Administered To: Students in science/math/technology course

Topics Covered:

  • Course Evaluation: activities, areas for program improvement, assignments, collaboration, content, exemplary areas, instructor, materials, methods, pace, practical value, satsifaction
  • Impact on Outcomes: student understanding
  • Background Characteristics & Activities (Student): academic focus, career interests, experience, prior coursework
  • Demographics (Student): age, gender

Format/Length: 20 questions, 15 closed-ended 4-point Likert scale ranging from "not at all satisfied" to "very satisfied", 3 open-ended, 2 closed-ended checklists, and an additional 8 demographic questions


 

Student Opinion Survey 

This survey asks for your reactions to and opinions about this course that you are now completing. It, and other similar courses, are being revised by [anonymous] faculty. Your feedback and suggestions are important in ensuring that changes in these courses reflect the experiences of students. Your responses are anonymous and will be treated confidentially in the hope that you will be open and honest in your ratings. Please try to answer all of the questions.
