The observer will try to capture in some detail nearly everything the teacher does in presenting the lesson. As for the students, no particular students are being targeted. The observer will need to note when and how any students respond to or initiate interaction with the teacher, but there is no need to keep track of the identities of these students (except when differentiations among students are necessary to describe what is taking place). In short, this instrument is mixed on this dimension—it is targeted for the teacher and all-inclusive for the students.
