At the beginning of their sophomore year, you decide to send students a letter by e-mail describing the purpose and timing of the interview. One week later, you send a follow-up e-mail asking each student to suggest times he or she is available. If you do not hear back within two days, you phone the student to schedule the interview. Because students will not necessarily have access to a quiet working space for the interview, you plan to conduct all interviews in a conference room near your office. On the day before each scheduled interview, you confirm the time by phone and e-mail.
